Aug. 21st, 2011 05:30 pmI am back in the US! And I was going to make a post about my trip, with pictures and everything, since I remembered to grab the pics off my mom's camera before we went our separate ways in the airport - so there's maybe a 50% chance I will actually make the trip post - but i am too busy despairing over the state of my kitchen right now. i am no homemaker extraordinaire, but i do, you know, wipe down the counters or the sink or the stove while i'm waiting for water to boil or bagels to toast, and clean up messes when i make them - and apparently my roommates do not, because the kitchen has gotten to a state when i don't want to touch everything. and i shared a communal kitchen with 40 other people as an undergrad, so my standards for filth are high. or low, i suppose. but every time i go in the kitchen to get something to eat, or to wash my dishes, or whatever, i spend 15 minutes wiping something down, and every single time i find a new surface that is sticky or full of baked on crap or has mysterious stains or is covered in the fucking cooking spray, and, internet, i am going to lose my goddamned mind.
