testing, testing
Mar. 14th, 2010 04:39 pmMostly this post is a test to see if I have correctly managed to set up cross-posting. But as long as I am posting, let me complain about school!
This is an actual quote from the next assignment in my anthro class: "This assignment asks you to take what we’ve been discussing with respect to gender and sexuality and apply it to an area of popular culture, sometimes known as mass culture." Talk about being paralyzed by choices. (And as long as we're talking about too many choices, for my sci-fi class, I have to prepare a 30 minutes presentation about ANYTHING in sci-fi or fantasy. help.) I think I might dig out the gender in HSM post I made about a year ago and clean up for academic purposes. which mostly means taking out the parts that go andthentheyhadsex.
on the other hand, it's not like I don't have lots of thoughts about gender in pop culture if I feel like going in another direction.
Other things I have done lately: attempted to track down a replacement W2; visited a monastery; went to the last day of fencing practice proper and continued to prove that I am the most useful person on the women's sabre squad and they will be lost without me next year, perhaps literally.
In conclusion, it has rained for like 3 days now and I really want it to stop so I can go grocery shopping without getting soaking wet.
eta: okay, this is probably funny only to me, but there's a fencing meet today that I am not at, but which is being run by that rare breed of tournament organizer who is both on top of shit and web savvy, so updates get posted to the website almost in realtime. right now, four of the six events are done (and have been done for almost 2 hours). the other two are still going. the link to results for the two still going used to just be links that didn't go anywhere. currently, they read "Barrage - Figures" and "Why won’t they stop fencing?" thus proving my rule of thumb for fencing meets: you think you're almost done, but it turns out there are hours of foil to go.
