shallower thoughts on hsm (i'll get over it soon, i swear)

1. For all the gayosity of "I Don't Dance", I think my favorite musical number qua musical number is "I Want It All." This is probably because I feel like if you're going to do a musical number, you should really go for it - set changes! backup dancers! costumes! chorus line! fireworks! (Why, yes, Masquerade is my favorite number of Phantom of the Opera. How did you guess?)

2. why does nothing in these movies make any sense? part of the problem is that they're not careful about marking reality and fantasy, and part of it is because it makes no sense.
