The fact that one of the major characters has the exact same name, first and last, as one of my close relatives means that I can pretty much never read the fic, though. I think this is a good thing, because that means I will never display unexpected HSM knowledge. (One of my RL buddies sometimes chats with me about Stargate while we jog. As in, "So, I was watching this episode of SG-1 and..." I have seen something like 15 episodes of Stargate, which means most of my knowledge comes from fic and fannish osmosis. These conversations often end up being interesting exercises in mental dexterity.)
