this is probably a long shot
Feb. 27th, 2009 11:53 ambut! I'm planning on writing a paper on the semantics of 'unconsciously believe' and I went and chatted with the professor about where I should start, things to think about, etc, etc, because attitude propositions are kind of her field, as well as wandering through JSTOR a bit myself and....neither of us knows anywhere to start. I mean, we discussed ways of attacking the problem, looking at accessibility relations and developing an axiomatic system and identifying the nature of the relationship between conscious and unconscious belief, but both of us were like "Man, it sure seems like someone would have written about this before, but I have no idea who or where."
She's going to harass her colleagues about references, and I'm going to go plop myself down in the P100s, as well as working my google-fu some more, but since there are some linguist type people on my flist: any of you happen to have seen work discussing (touching on? possibly relevant to?) the semantics of 'unconsciously believe'?
