1. Love meme comments! Thank you so much to people who said nice things to me. (Also, every time some one calls me "go fucking gentle" I have a moment of internal squee about infixes and how that name demonstrates the peculiar way in which they occur in English.)(Also also, I left a bunch of anonymous comments which means I filled out a bunch of captchas, and hot damn, reCAPTCHA is a cool idea.)

2. Mail! I got around to checking my mail to find (amidst the wasteland of paychecks*) a card from [livejournal.com profile] natacup82, which was delightful. Also, my mother claims that she put a end or semester care package in the mail for me. (She claims that at she sent me back from Thanksgiving with enough brownies to last out the semester - which to be fair**, is mostly true - so I told her to send "whatever, you know, goofy holiday things and snowglobes made out of paper and whathaveyou". Not gonna lie, I'm excited.)

3. Sleep! I skipped my only class today to sleep for like 9 hours continuously, and while sleep doesn't exactly make problems go away, it does make me much more able to cope with them.

4. Fencing! I went to practice today to get a blade stuck in my hair*** and my mask and blade stolen****. This sounds like a bad thing, but I find each of those events hilarious.

5. Pete Wentz: Furry. You know, when I first heard "bear dancers" I didn't really think, like, choreography, because, well, bear costumes. I have no words for this feeling - it's like a mix of "WTF" and "oh, of course he did". Completely predictable unpredictability, or something. Also, I'm not sure that anything involving Pete and bear suits should really be rated G. Just sayin;.

*My paycheck is direct deposited, so I get an email from my bank on Friday mornings saying "yup, some money showed up", and then the paper that says "hey, we paid you!" shows up sometime later, at which point I am like, "psh, old news" and don't really pick them up.
**The phrases "to be fair" and "to be honest" seem to occur about with equal frequency in fannish English, and yet only "to be fair" occurs in my speech. I have no idea why that is. (The other fannish English phrase that most often occurs in my everyday speech is "because [noun]".)
***I have, conservatively speaking, a fuckton of hair. When I fence, I toss it up into a low bun-like thing with lots of coils (because I cannot do what I think of as the proto-typical fencer 'do: ponytail or looped ponytail, high and to the left. When I try that with a bun, even, I get stuck in my mask. It's not good). Over the course of practice, the coils become looser and the whole thing starts to get droopy, at which point I add more hairties to pull it back up to acceptable heights again. At the point I got a blade stuck in my hair, it was at the longer stage. Also, the resident lefty was involved, which didn't help.
****And by 'stolen', I really mean that while I put them down to direct, someone leaving early picked them up in place of his own. We do not steal from teammates; we save that for opponents.*****
*****Okay, we don't really steal from our opponents (although there are a few items whose provenance I would be curious about, if you get my drift). But if we host a meet and you happen to leave a weapon or body cord or other small generic item behind, we will are unlikely to attempt to track you down to return it. Unless it's bayonet stuff, in which it will sit woefully in the corner of the armory as we talk about returning it (but never actually do). This seems to be limited by size - at Wednesday's meet (in which I was undefeated in my one (farcical) bout of the evening), the host school apparently tried to got confused and tried to get us to pack up and take one of Harvard's strips, and we refused, despite my urging to the contrary. (it was one of the new light ones! Harvard can afford to buy new strips!)
