Sep. 1st, 2008 12:32 amSo, on Friday we moved my brother in, which was followed by the obligatory trip to Target on Saturday. (And by 'Target', I mean the 'South Bay Shopping Center' or whatever the official name of the Andrew T stop is, which means there was Target, Home Depot, Circuit City, Old Navy, Office Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Stop and Shop, and Super 88. Not that we visited all of those. But we could have!) My parents were like, "Hey, do you wanna come along? Maybe offer advice or suggestions, or grab stuff that you need?" to which my reaction was "Hell yes." And I was maybe a little goofy during this expedition, between trying to get my brother to buy things he didn't need and taking advantadge of my roommate-less state. (With a roommate, you have less space because they have stuff, you have to consult them on the decor, and you have to navigate the questions of 'who will pay for/own/use this item?' and now I don't have to do any of those things! Although I'm pretty sure the unvierse owes me a free pass or two on the 'consulting' thing.) I now have a giant new squishy chair, curtains, a floor lamp, and plans to turn the bottom bunk into a sofa-type thing. Also a tool set, which claims to include 134 pieces and has an electric screwdriver (sadly not sonic). (Me: "Yeah, I'm gonna need a screwdriver to hang these curtains." My dad: "Here, take this set." Me: "...okay.") Also a bunch of things I needed like laundry detergent and lightbulbs and Swiffers and looseleaf paper. (Speaking of laundry, I have so much to do. My usual load of 'all the clothes I own' takes a little under three loads, plus I need to wash my new sheets, my old sheets, and all my towels too. I'm thinking five loads at least. Guess what I'm doing tomorrow!)
It's possible that I may have been a little over-optimistic in my claims that I would be able to install curtains by myself. They're up, but it's a little wonky. Also, I need to finish hemming them. My window is 52 inches wide and 74 inches high, which is not at all standard, which makes buying curtains interesting. I have to buy the long ones, but I can't let them hang past the bottom of the window, because the radiator is there and radiator + fabric = trouble, and it's my goal to not light the curtains on fire. Hence, I break out the needle and thread. (I thought about using the stapler, but I decided to go with the attempt to be a little classy. Only I can't sew for shit, so I'm not sure it's worth it.)
ETA: Why will none of the six or so fraternities (my school's frats) next to my brother's dorm not tell me which shuttle I need to take to get there? ETA2: Brother's dorm, you want me to have him sign me in and you want me to leave ID with security if I want toharass visit him? That doesn't seem a little extreme to you?
Taking a drastic turn to the serious, RNC, what the fuck is this mess you're making in my city now? Ramsey County Sheriff, this goes for you too.
