Today was Friday at work (also, everywhere else in the world) which means that things get a little weird. It tends to be slow, plus there's the whole Friday thing, which means people get punchy. We got a request in ILL that we couldn't fill because there wasn't enough citation data to tell us what we were looking for, so G (who runs that department) drew a sad face on the pullslip, then reconsidered and doodled a fist with raised middle finger on it instead. And then they spent some time sharing tales of bad requests they get, like the woman who emails in allcaps and refuses to believe us when we explain why we blackout the signatures when we scan theses (privacy). Apparently the CIA is really bad at providing accurate citations, which is funny because Central Intelligence Agency.

Also, weekend! Rush is fully underway! A lot of places here do Rush as, like, actual events - dinner, parties, movie nights, whatever - but we're more about the 24/7 construction (to the sound of classic rock), barbecue whenever we can convince someone to cook it, and the occasional hair dye session.* Where this becomes an issue is in the schedule of Rush events, as compiled by the campus paper - "Construction, food, hair dye, conversation: noon-midnight" simply isn't compelling. Someone showed me the schedule today, and it appears that they chose to solve that problem by stream of conscious rambling, sexual whatever-the-opposite-of-innuendo-is, and excerpts from spam emails, all annotated with times. My first remark upon seeing it was "It's like /b/ wrote a Rush schedule!" (To which the response was "What's 'bee'?, so I changed the topic.)

*I kinda want to dye my hair, but I really only like it for a few weeks and then I want blond again, and I hate the fade process. And I'm thinking about the internship thing next summer, which means I would start putting out feelers at the job fairs in the fall, and it's harder to convince employers in a conservative industry that you are responsible, well-mannered, and professional when your hair is bright blue. On the other hand, bright blue.

Also making me happy: Fall Out Boy and their adorable faces and viral marketing and new song clip. I don't really have the patience for what they're doing, but I'm enjoying watching other people figure it out. THe thought of a new album makes me all :DDDDDDDDD

ETA: At some point in high school, the school orchestra and choir played selections from Mass for the winter concert, and I have a really clear memory of the Credo (which is at least a little wrong because I've dropped a line, but not the point), and I cannot figure out what it was or who wrote it and it is driving me mad. There's no good reason I'm trying to find it, but it's not working and arrrgh.
