Posting gets things out of my head
Jul. 22nd, 2008 02:04 am1. So, I watch metafandom, and I usually follow the links, which I find fascinating or amusing or pretentious or enlightening or whatever, depending on the topic and the post. But what I really like about metafandom is reading the comments - not the comments on the linked posts, but the comments on the metafandom posts, where people can submit links or request that links be removed. Because as much as meatfandom is a reporter of fandom discussion, it's also a shaper of that discussion, and I think it's interesting to see who is shaping that discussion, or who is trying to. (Plus, that way you get to come up with conspiracy theories.) I took a historiography class in high school, and was unduly fascinated by it - I suspect this is not that different.
2. I've had this link open in a tab for a while - I was thinking about what it means for fandom communities and flists, but as my flist grows steadily larger, my thoughts seem less and less accurate, so instead of posting I am releasing this link into the wild for anyone who wants it.
