Look, person I know in RL. If you're going to be creepy and lurk this journal without telling me, and do it from the computer lab in the next building, I'm going to put my powers of Intenets to good use and find out who you are. Fair? (For the record, people I don't know in RL: I'm pretty sure I can only get this info if you're on my college's computers, so I'm not going to be doing this to the rest of you or anything.)
(Although I do want to use my powers of internet stalking to get in touch with the really hot dude sitting behind me at the lecture on gendered violence that I went to today. If only I'd been able to stay to the end and actually talk to him.)
I think I'm required to make a post on recent fandom happenings. Except I don't really have anything to say about them. Mostly my thoughts, broadly speaking, are 'they're over there, I'm over here, moving on now.' Hugely controversial, I know. For the record, I'm pretty sure everything I've said in this fandom has been with my username attached, either by LJ's tags or by OpenID (or merely signed when I can't get OpenID to work). I don't really have any opinions on other people's anonymity, just sayin' that it's not something that I've chosen to do. Your mileage will vary, obviously.
Also, I don't really want to know what you actually think of me, especially not anonymously. I cling to my polite fictions. Feel free to make polite fiction at me in comments, though. (And if you really need to talk to me about my behavior on the internets, that's what email's for, mmmkay? Just know that I am a delicate flower.)
I was in the shower, and I was thinking about math, as one does in the shower, and fandom, as one does more or less all the time, and then I tried to combine the two. A small community is a convex set! Your flist is a star-shaped set! Fandom as a whole is a connected set! Or perhaps that is a contentious point! Can we write fandom as the union of disjoint sets? ...then I realized that I was doing, I don't even know, applied discrete sociological mathematics or something, and perhaps I need more sleep. (Before I ended up on the math tangent, I was thinking about Fandom as Community and Fandom as Home, so perhaps if after sleeping I get my thoughts together on that, I may toss some thinky up.)
And, wow, I'm even more fond of the parens than usual today.
