instead of watching the game i did math
Nov. 20th, 2011 01:45 amWe know that Duncan Keith led the NHL in playing time last year. We also know, despite his superhuman delts lung capacity work ethic, that when he starts getting close to 30 minutes a night, he tends to catch the dumb. And presumably this effect is carried through to players without his superhuman delts lung capacity work ethic.
One of the frequent criticisms of John Scott (beyond his actual ability, which is both beyond the scope of this post and beyond my knowledge of advanced stats) is that he can't eat his share of minutes, leaving the rest of the D to have to pick them up, leading to the point in the previous paragraph.
( so i attempted to quantify this. )
And I was going to write up a thing about what all these numbers mean, but it's 2am so maybe I'll leave it as a 'discuss in comments' sort of thing.
