May. 8th, 2010 01:43 am1. It is well after 1am, but this is the first chance I've had to post all day - I spent my evening writing about The Magicians, because my life is thrilling and glamourous. But it was officially due at midnight, and I sent it off by email at around 12:15, so go me. (In class this week, the professor reminded us that it was due "by email on Friday. Or drop it off at my office over the weekend. Or print it and bring it to class on Monday." so I figure the fact that it was 15 minutes late is not a big deal.)
2. Okay, so I get email notifications from my bank when there are deposits or withdrawals from my account, so that if anything weird should happen to my money, I find out about it right away. Mostly, this just leads to emails about mysterious deposits that I cannot remember making - and since I pulled a couple pieces of malware off my machine this week, I'm doing my banking from other computers until I have a few more clean scans under my belt, so I get the email over breakfast, and then spend all morning trying to work out who is giving me a few hundred dollars and why. (it turned out to be my federal tax refund, and yes, I did the exact same thing a few weeks ago when I got the state refund.) (And then as long as I was logged into my bank's site at work, I paid my credit card bill, which, yes, sets off an email about a withdrawal, which I then stared at in confusion several hours later wondering why 200 dollars were leaving my checking account. /o\)
3. Things that I have found reading about to be upsetting enough over the past week to go do something else for a while: johnny/drew. johnny+evan history. johnny's trajectory as a skater. that interview where he wonders if 2005 was his time. depictions of iowa in fic. the eventual heat death of the universe. (no, seriously, it was in a reading for class.) /o\ before you all try to stage an intervention for reasons of wildly overinvested, i'd like to point out that i'm not getting enough sleep which kind of makes me a little emotionally unbalanced. also johnny weir is very upsetting sometimes except when he talks about how much he loves hugs from strangers
4. I feel like the fourth wall has slowly been melting, at least the one involving _skating, what with them meeting johnny and AJ dedicating them posts. on the other hand, I think elite skaters are sort of prepared for batshit fans in a way that baby bands maybe are not, and that any skater for which there is any quantity of porn is established enough to just see it as another weird thing fans do. (speaking of weird things fans do, is johnny trying to get people to buy him two thousand dollar leather pants?) (also, watch that video in the AJ post. it's one of stephane's exhibitions, and it's maybe 30% spins, 30% twizzles, 20% hair flicks, and 20% everything else.)
5. oh evan what happened to you? (on a TOTALLY UNRELATED NOTE I SWEAR, do we have a date for the alleged "butch up or else" talk that evan and johnny supposedly got?)
6. _skating is running a poll about who skated the best Tosca, and people are voting for programs other than Michelle Kwan's 2004 Nats FS, which is to say, they are WRONG ON THE INTERNET. SO WRONG I DO NOT EVEN HAVE WORDS. Seriously, look at the footwork sequence @4:00 and try to tell me that is not the most joyful piece of skating you have ever seen. (and, see point 3, but it makes me teary.)
