1. The GOP on Sotomayor: "Can a woman who says her views are shaped by her Puerto Rican heritage and humble beginnings make fair decisions when it comes to all races and social classes? "We need to know, for example, whether she's going to be a justice for all of us or just a justice for a few of us," said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas)." Funny that no one asks that about all the white men on the Court.

2. Dr. Tiller killed. He was one of the few doctors in this country to provide late term abortion, and his murder is an act of terrorism. He had been stalked, threatened, and shot by anti-choice groups, yet continued his work. I am left wordless by both Dr Tiller's bravery and the outrage murdering a doctor in his own church.

1. Why is the new Star Trek a reboot? When I think 'reboot', I think of the new BSG or Batman Begins or new Bond, where the ideas were kept and some of the characters and plotlines were reused, but it was clearly a different continuity.

But new Star Trek is the same continuity until Crazy Eric Bana shows up, right? So it's closer to a AU that diverges very early in the series. Are we calling it a reboot because of the sheer quantity of canon it erases, even though the backstory is the same?

2. I finished all of Entourage. This is rather annoying because I got used to watching a few episodes before bed, and now I keep reaching for more but there are no more, at least until the 6th season starts airing this summer.

but about seasons 1-5! )
