So, I'm taking this project-based class, and I was a little worried since it's all group work, and there's presentations, and hanging out with the TAs, and did I mention the group work, and if you were to design a class most likely to cause a panic attack, it would probably look like that. We selected our groups more or less randomly (Dude I've seen around but whose name I didn't know: "Hey, wanna be in a group? I sort of know you and I sorta know that kid over there. How's that sound?"), and somehow I ended up with a group who exactly matches my work ethic, my thoughts about email discussion, and my approach to deadlines. I was panicking this morning because we have a draft due at midnight and I'm in a phase were I am afraid of my .edu email, so I hadn't seen what I was supposed to write and I was afraid that I'd go to our TA meeting this afternoon to hear, "We're all done! Just waiting on your parts!" but instead there was some clever finagling to get us an extra day to write because no one has anything near ready to turn in. Oh, the sweet sweet smell of procrastination.
This post has taken me an hour to write, mostly because the following conversation kept happening:
Erik: Do you have any flour?
Me: Sure, it's in my cabinet.
(time passes)
Erik: Can I ask you a question?
Me: Go for it.
Erik: Well, you really need to be in the kitchen to answer it.
Me: Uh-oh.
(I save his sauce, then suggest he add cheese.)
And then he decides he has way too much food and invites the entire kitchen to help finish it off. om nom nom.
