Apr. 14th, 2009 05:45 pmFact 1ai: my school is a relatively small div3 school.
Fact 1aii: my school offers a large number of varsity sports, matched by only by Harvard (or none, depending on what article you're reading.)
Fact 1aiii: my school is not noted for particular success in athletic contest nor for athleticism of the student body.
Conclusion 1a: Student participation in varsity athletics is driven mainly by dedication.
Fact 1bi: my school is facing a large budget cut across departments, including the athletics department.
Fact 1bii: my school has chosen to cut a number of TBD varsity sports.
Conclusion 1: Portions of the student body are seriously pissed at the athletics department.
Fact 2: Last weekend was an athletics shindig, in which the school mascot made several appearances.
Fact 3: Next weekend is admitted students weekend, in which we are swarmed by high school students, and in which the school mascot is scheduled to make a number of appearances.
So, there are the facts. I'm not sure I have the twisted sort of mind that puts 1,2,3 together to arrive at "kidnap the mascot, release the student, and hold the costume for ransom, said ransom being a promise to keep all the varsity teams."
but someone at my school does.
