1. I suspect this may be a case of trying to apply logic in a place where logic should not go, but can someone explain something to me? Certain conservative, uh, let us say, outliers* are demanding that Barack Obama produce his birth certificate to prove he was born in Hawaii and not some foreign land, because you need to be a "natural born" citizen of the US to be president. But since his mother was a citizen he would be a citizen by birth no matter where he was born (and the State Department will tell you all about that.) So, what's going on here?

*I'm sure there are any number of rational conservatives who believe earnestly and truly in small government and so forth. That's not who I'm talking about.

2. Women's sabre is perhaps the only squad on the team where the choices for starters are non-obvious. Our first real meet is Saturday. This means that every bouting day for the past week and a half, the coaches lurk around our strips in really obvious fashion and watch us bout. MY NERVES CANNOT TAKE THIS.

3. I did something wrong when going for a parry 4, and now my pinky feels like I slammed it in a car door. Oww.
