once for the father, twice for the son, three times for the holy ghost

which is to say, more West Coast Smoker questions. Have any of you either seen or worked out a good version of the lyrics? songmeanings.net has the best I've seen so far, but they don't have the bit I'm curious about: right about 1:30, it goes "got my degree in the gutter, [something something something] in the dorms of the Ivy League", unless it is 'Garden' for 'gutter'. Or something else entirely, who really knows. Between Patrick's enunciation and Pete's writing (which I feel sometimes approaches 'colorless green ideas sleep furiously' in terms of the syntactic/semantic devision), FOB's lyrics often are lost on me until I look them up.
