a good, a bad, and an awesome thing about libraries

1. The good: (Background: the library department where I work is three sub-units in one large space that could charitably be called an 'office', accurately described as a 'warren', and uncharitably described as 'a collection of former storerooms in the basement.') My boss told me that the head of one of the other sub-units offered to trade all of their student employees for me; my boss refused, although he does hope that I never graduate.

2. The bad: I hate WorldCat. I mean, I love it, but lately when I pull up an item to see which libraries I have access to own it and then go to that library's catalog page, I GET THE WRONG FUCKING ITEM. AND THEN THE ITEM I WANT ISN'T OWNED BY THE LIBRARY IN THE FIRST PLACE. Dear WorldCat: UR DOING IT WRONG. In the hierarchy of cataloging, good>bad>wrong, and you are WRONG.

3. The awesome: I have five books checked out from my school library. I also have 8 or so items on hold in three other library systems in two states. (Current topics appear to be: languages I don't speak but wish I did; the bible and things relating to it; and the complete works of Sherwood Smith.)

Oh Criminal Minds. I know you have a bad track record with accents, but 10 minutes into this episode and I am smirking every time a 'Boston' character speaks. This is not a good sign.
